Who is Matthew?

Matthew Pitman is a New York-based actor with a rich background in singing, dancing, writing, and script work. Born in Oklahoma City and raised in Chandler, Arizona, Matthew's journey into the world of acting has deep roots in his early experiences with music and theatre, largely influenced by his mother, who also had a background in performance and music. She introduced him to music at a young age, teaching him piano and encouraging him to join the choir, which became his first formal introduction to the arts.

Matthew’s path to acting truly solidified during his time at Oklahoma City University, where he earned his BFA in Acting. This period was pivotal, allowing him to fully explore and hone his artistry. He believes that curiosity should never be stifled and that continuously learning and growing is key to any successful career. His philosophy of "done is better than good" drives him to help others bring their visions to life, and he is always eager to collaborate and create.

Throughout his career, Matthew has found that no matter the circumstances, his craft serves as a guiding light, keeping his passion alive and his spark burning. His recent film credits include Birdie (2024), Grape Chapstick (2024), and Sorry, We’re Open (2022). On stage, he has played significant roles such as Romeo in Romeo and Juliet, Frankie in A Lie of the Mind, Lenny in Marisol, and Julius Caesar in Julius Caesar.

Matthew has also had the privilege of performing on international stages, including the World Theatre Education Alliance in Beijing, China, and in Rome, Italy. His time in China was life-changing, profoundly broadening his horizons as a performer, and offering a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to engage with diverse global perspectives. In Rome, performing in the heart of such a historically rich and culturally significant city allowed him to connect with the source material on a deeply personal level.

Outside of acting, Matthew has a passion for puzzle-solving and creative thinking. If he weren't pursuing his career in acting, he could see himself taking a completely different path, perhaps in forensics or even following his childhood dream of becoming an astronaut—though he admits that acting seemed like the more realistic choice.

Looking ahead, Matthew hopes to continue collaborating and creating, with the goal of making a meaningful impact in the industry. He is driven by the belief that every project is an adventure, and he looks forward to the new challenges and opportunities that each role brings.
